Our Philosophy

Our Home Based Therapeutic Service (HBTS) programs are founded on the belief that there are significant, longer lasting benefits to children and youth when their families are active participants in their educational and therapeutic programs, and their communities are part of the learning environment. Consistent implementation of therapeutic programs across environments and throughout the day will enhance a child’s learning, behavior, and social competence. The HBTS program emphasizes a family-centered approach to treatment with services and schedules flexible enough to meet individual needs.

CIT Program

The Children’s Intensive Treatment (CIT) Program prepares young children behaviorally and academically for placement in the least restrictive school setting possible. To accomplish this, CIT:

  • Provides one to one behavioral programming with a focus on skill acquisition
  • Serves children from age 30 months until they begin a full-day school program who
    • have medical needs covered through Medicaid
    • have home based services prescribed as “medically necessary”
    • have a diagnosis of Autism, Developmental Disabilities, PDD-NOS, or Asperger Syndrome
  • Offers from 20 to 35 hours of structured learning opportunities weekly
  • Offers a weekly playgroup
  • Supports families and children in transitioning to school programs
  • Develops an Individualized Treatment Plan that includes basic academics, play skills, language skills, following directions, attending, daily living skills, self-control responses, socialization, and parent education

IST Program

The In-Home Support and Training (IST) Program helps families develop practical behavioral strategies that are effective with their children who may be challenged by serious behavioral concerns. To accomplish this, IST:

  • Provides after school support in behavior management and skill development
  • Serves children and youth 6 years to 21 years old who
    • have medical needs covered through Medicaid
    • have home based services prescribed as “medically necessary
    • have a diagnosis of Autism, Developmental Disabilities, PDD-NOS, Retts Syndrome, Aspergers, Fragile X, Angleman Syndrome or mental retardation
  • Offers 12 to 25 hours of one to one direct support staff weekly
  • Develops a Treatment Plan that includes a behavior management plan, communication training, functional life skills instruction, social skills training, self-control skills, and parent education

Referral Process

  • Referrals must originate through a CEDARR Family Center.
  • Child must be covered by Medicaid.
  • An initial home visit by HBTS clinicians will review program details with parents and determine if services will meet their and their child’s needs.
  • Clinical team meets with family to identify appropriate goals for Treatment Plan. HBTS prepares Treatment Plan, submits it with supporting documentation for authorization, and hires direct care staff.
